''Write a letter to someone to explain why it is important to talk about AIDS and to protect yourself against the disease'' - this was the theme chosen for the 2010 Letter-Writing Competition run annually by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and promoted jointly in Portugal by ANACOM and CTT - Correios de Portugal.
From the total of 904 letters received, the following participants were declared winners:
- 1st Category (9-11 years): Catarina Alexandra Gomes Moreira, Junqueira, Vila do Conde;
- 2nd Category (12-15 years): Patrícia Sofia Sousa Florindo, Mourisca do Vouga, Trofa.
The winning letter of the second category will go on to represent Portugal in the International letter writing competition, organised by the UPU.
