World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC-12)

As part of national preparations for the next World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC-12) of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), to be held between 23 January and 17 February 2012, ANACOM has announced its intention to set up a series of national working groups.

In setting up these groups, ANACOM’s goal is to enable an exchange of opinions with a view to preparing and consolidating consensual national positions to be advocated at the level of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) and the ITU, in particular in the ITU’s Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R).

The agenda of the WRC-12 covers a vast range of issues such as enhancing flexibility in the use of the spectrum, issues of sharing and compatibility in the 790 MHz-862 MHz band between the mobile service and other services (including broadcasting), the European satellite navigation system – Galileo, unmanned aircraft systems, aeronautical applications, new digital technologies for the mobile maritime service, etc.

As such, interested partied are invited to contact ANACOM by 6 September 2010, preferably by sending an email to wrc-12@anacom.ptmailto:wrc-12@anacom.pt, indicating which points on the WRC-12 agenda they are interested in following, so that related topics can be grouped and subsequent meetings can be scheduled.
