By determination of 23 March 2012, ANACOM approved two programmes to support the population in the scope of the migration to the digital terrestrial television (DTT), that is, the equipment subsidy programme and the co-payment programme associated to satellite coverage (DTH), which integrate the right of use for frequencies granted to PT Comunicações (PTC) in December 2008.

As such, ANACOM approved, on the one hand, the granting by PTC of a new subsidy for adapting the installation for digital signal reception, either the terrestrial signal (DTT) or via satellite (DTH), which amounts to €61, and which may be applied for by beneficiaries of the subsidy programme.

This subsidy may be applied for until 31 August 2012, date until which has also been extended the period of time during which the subsidy for purchase of DTT reception equipment is in force (point 1.3. of the programme).

On the other hand, the value of the DTH kit is now €30, after reimbursement, applicants being allowed to choose between the following two procedures:

  • Purchase of the equipment for its full value (77€), applicants being later reimbursed for the amount established for co-payment (that is, 47€); or

  • Order of the equipment and, after PTC has verified that all requirements have been met (within 5 working days) the equipment may be purchased for only €30.

The extension of this co-payment to the 1st additional set-top-box (STB) was also approved.

PTC must bring its procedures in line with provisions in these decisions, including the information provided on both programmes.
