On 14 April 2014, the European Commission released the study “Mapping the European ICT Poles of Excellence: The Atlas of ICT Activity in Europe”, which maps the areas of Europe where digital technologies are advancing and the main factors of this success.
According to the study, the majority of information and communication technology (ICT) activities are concentrated in 34 regions in 12 countries. The main factors of success include access to the best universities and to leading research centres and the availability of financing.
