Portuguese Committee of URSI: call for papers and prizes - entries close 12.10.2014

The Portuguese Committee of URSI has launched a call for papers as part of the preparations for its 8th Congress, which will take place on 28 November 2014, on the theme ''Drones and autonomous vehicles: present and future challenges''. Interested parties may submit unpublished scientific papers on the main topic of the Congress or on defined scientific areas, no later than 12 October 2014. The selected works will then be presented at the Congress.

This initiative aims to promote the dissemination of scientific works and encourage the exchange of experience among researchers, manufacturers and service providers, among others.

With sponsorship from ANACOM, the Portuguese Committee of URSI, will award the "ANACOM - URSI Portugal Prize" for the best research work in the area of Radioelectricity. Entries may likewise be submitted by 12 October 2014.

The prize, which will be awarded during the Congress, was established with the aim of stimulating creativity and rigour in scientific research work in Portugal.

Seeking to encourage young authors, ANACOM has sponsored the Best Student Paper Award, which will be awarded to the best paper presented by a student who is also first author of the article and will make a presentation on the work at the Congress. The intent to compete for this award must be expressed simultaneously with the submission of the article, and ANACOM may require confirmation of the author's academic situation.
