TDAG meeting - Geneva

The 20th meeting of the ITU’s TDAG was held last 28-30 April in Geneva.

The meeting served to review the current status of activities undertaken in the Telecommunications Development Sector (ITU-D) since the last World Telecommunications Development Conference in 2014 (WTDC-14). Highlights included various organisational proposals concerning the revision of working methods in TDAG and study groups.

Also debated were a number of initiatives that will dominate the sector’s activities in the future. The Development Sector’s operational plan for the 2016-2019 period was specifically discussed.

One aspect that marked the 20th TDAG meeting was the evident concern about coordinating activities of the other ITU sectors. In this regard, it is especially significant that a document drawn up jointly by the directors of the Development and Standardisation Offices was debated and calls precisely for strengthening coordination efforts.
