A delegation from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) of the European Parliament (EP) visited on 8 April the Office of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) in Riga, Latvia.
BEREC Chair Fátima Barros briefly explained the role of both BEREC and its Office. She also provided a brief overview of BEREC’s responsibilities and achievements regarding development and improvement of the functioning of the internal market for electronic communication networks and services, besides describing the current status of the proposal for a single telecoms market.
Finally, she stressed that in the scope of its powers BEREC is continually available to issue opinions on electronic communications matters when so requested by the EP and other European institutions.
