WP 6E - Geneva

WP 6E (terrestrial delivery) of ITU-R met in Geneva from 31 March to 7 April, chaired by the representative from the USA.

The meeting saw the approval of 41 documents, of which the following stand out:

- The proposal for a new recommendation on protection requirements for broadcasting systems below 80 MHz, against interference caused by wireless telecommunication systems;

- The proposal for revision of recommendation ITU-R BT.1368-4 (planning criteria for terrestrial digital television service in the VHF and UHF bands), introducing new relationships for protection of the DVB-T terrestrial digital transmission system, regarding telegraph and FM signals;

- Preparation of a new question on the importance of communications in the context of major disasters and tragedies. The question arises following the tragic southeast Asia tsunami. WP 6E aims to study in coming years the importance of communications in preventing, detecting and warning of tragedies such as the one that occurred in Asia.

WP 6E also proceeded to study various documents, contributions for the preparation of European positions to submit for approval during the next World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC07).
