ANACOM has given approval, by a determination of 23 April 2009, to the procedures related to the amateur and amateur-satellite services, set out by Decree Law no. 53/2009 of 2 March.

In this respect, according to this law, ANACOM is charged with defining and publicising, no later than 90 days following its publication and as a condition for their execution, matters connected to, in particular, the procedures to be followed in amateur exams and respective documents, the manner of establishing the technical conditions of the means used and the assignment of call signs (paragraph 4 of article 4, paragraph 6 of Article 5, paragraph 12 of article 6, paragraph 4 of article 7, paragraph 4 of article 8, paragraph 13 of article 10, paragraph 3 of article 11, point b) of paragraph 1 of article 13, paragraph 1 of article 15, paragraph 5 of article 16. paragraph 3 of article 17 and article 26).

Other issues are addressed, including those related to the electronic means to be used in the procedures involving communications between ANACOM and the holders of national amateur certificates and non-proprietary station licenses, as well as requests submitted to this Authority.

The approved document is subject to the prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms of Article 100 et seq. of the Code of Administrative Procedure, for a period of 10 working days, ending on 15 May 2009. ANACOM also took the initiative to publish a notice today in the press, disclosing the adoption of this draft procedures, specifically in: Correio da Manhã, Diário de Noticias, Jornal de Notícias, Público, Açoriano Oriental and Diário de Notícias da Madeira.

Amateur Service: Abbreviation: AM. Radiocommunication service for individual training, intercommunication and technical investigations carried out by amateurs, that is, by duly authorized persons interested in radio technique solely with a personal aim and without pecuniary interest.
