7th meeting of the World Conference on International Telecommunications working group - Geneva

Geneva hosted last 23-25 April the seventh meeting of the Council working group preparing for the World Conference on International Telecommunications (CWG WCIT-12). WCIT-12 is due to be held on 3-14 December 2012 in Dubai and should finish the process of revising the International Telecommunications Regulations (ITR).

This CWG meeting considered 18 submitted contributions. One was put forward by Portugal, presenting consensus positions in the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) with a view to disclosing CEPT’s proposals in various controversial areas such as caller line identification and cyber-security.

The CWG meeting thus served to present the various proposals, with attempts made to reconcile the different positions.

The next and last meeting of this working group will be held in Geneva this coming 20-22 June.
