The use by consumers of electronic communications services in bundles plays a significant role in Portugal.
Given this trend, ANACOM has published the statistical results obtained from a survey, conducted in January 2013 of households using bundles consisting of two or more of the following services: fixed telephone service (FTS), the fixed Internet access (FIAS) and the subscription television service (STVS).
The key results of the report, prepared at the request of ANACOM by Indera -Estudos Económicos are as follows:
- within each combination of services, between 80 and 88 percent of households receive services in a bundle;
- 68 percent of households receive three services in the form of a bundle;
- 90 percent of households receive FTS as part of a bundle, whereas only 2 percent of households have no FTS;
- About 18 percent of households have FIAS and 94 percent have this service included in a bundle;
- Only 4 percent of households do not have STVS, and of those that do, 88 percent receive the service in a bundle.
In relation to the mobile telephone service, the report notes that only 5 percent of respondents receive the mobile service included in a bundle, while 82 percent of respondents say they do not have the mobile Internet service; of those with the mobile Internet service, only 39 percent receive it as part of a bundle.
