European Parliament approves Connecting Europe Facility


On 19 November 2013, the European Parliament (EP) gave approval to the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), which introduces new rules to simplify the allocation of funds to priority transport, energy and telecommunications projects and to improve the integration of cohesion countries.

The Facility will have a budget of around €29.3 billion over the next seven years. The telecommunications sector will receive one billion euros to develop broadband networks and digital services.
