4th meeting of CPG15 PT-C - Mainz

The German city of Mainz hosted last 28-31 January the 4th meeting of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG15) project team (PT-C) on matters concerning amateur services (identification of additional spectrum in 5 MHz), aeronautic mobile service (spectrum via satellite for control and non-payload communications (CNPC) of unmanned aircraft vehicles) and satellite maritime mobile service (identification of spectrum for satellite automatic identification systems (SAT-AIS), wireless avionics intra-communication (WAIC) and short range radars (SRR) in the 78 GHz frequency band).

The revised base documents (briefs) for the future European common proposals were approved, especially with the addition of results from the latest International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) meetings concerning studies on frequency band sharing between services and studies on compatibility between systems. These will enable various solutions to be designed to resolve each of the agenda points. The positions of other regional organisations were also added.

Likewise approved were first drafts of the European common proposals (ECPs), specifically: i) for WAIC applications; ii) for SRR applications in the 78 GHz frequency band; iii) for maritime mobile service with respect to introduction of new digital technologies and channelling at 12.5 kHz; and iv) satellite mobile service for very high frequency (VHF) data exchange system (VDE) applications.

The next meeting will be held on 8-11 April in Amsterdam.
