49th plenary meeting - Skopje


The 49th plenary meeting of the CERP of CEPT was held last 29-30 May in Skopje, Macedonia.

The gathering saw approval of the "CERP Guide for Expert Missions" drawn up by the working group on Policy (WG Policy) along with the "Working Methods for CERP in UPU matters" and the "Draft letter to the International Bureau (IB) of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) concerning European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP) contribution concerning clear decision making processes within the UPU" prepared by the working group in charge of European coordination of issues associated to the Universal Postal Union (WG UPU). The representative from the European Commission (EC) reviewed latest developments in the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) and other European regulation issues, while the UPU's representative presented main results from the UPU Council sessions last April.

The chairs and vice-chairs of CERP and the respective working groups and task forces were elected.

CERP's new chair is Ljubisa Mitevski of the Republic of Macedonia, elected for a 3-year term to replace Ulrich Dammann of Germany who had held office for two terms since 2008.

Lastly, the plenary session closed with a forum whose theme topic was 'need for changes in universal postal service given lower volume and demand'.
