ANACOM Alerts - problems with reception of national mail and with communications providers

As part of the "ANACOM Alerts" initiative, launched to strengthen the information that ANACOM makes available to consumers on specific sector issues, reflecting the main issues raised in complaints, the following article was published on 16 July (Correio da Manhã) and 17 July (Jornal de Notícias):

Problems with reception of national mail

  • The loss of registered mail (CTT) due to loss, theft or damage gives rise to a right to compensation.
  • This right to compensation is granted to the sender but may be transferred to the recipient in certain situations.
  • If registered mail is uninsured, compensation is based on the real value of the loss, subject to a maximum limit of 20 times the registration fee paid.
  • In case of disagreement with CTT on issues of compensation, refer to a Consumer Dispute Arbitration Centre.

The section this week on Radio Renascença, will air on 19, 20 and 21 July between 5 pm and 6 pm in the 1st position of the block as follows:

Do you know what to do if you have problems with a communications provider?

  • First, get in contact with the provider through one of its retail outlets or using one of the means of contact that the provider lists on its website.
  • If you cannot resolve the problem, complain in writing, clearly describing the situation and what you want. Keep all documentation on the subject.
  • If the provider still does not resolve the problem, refer to a Consumer Disputes Arbitration Centre. It's faster, cheaper and just as safe as the courts.
