The 31st meeting of the project team on Future Numbering Issues (PT FNI) of the ECC’s WG NaN took place last 13-14 September in Kristiansand, Norway. The attending regulators discussed the latest information regarding numbering, especially aspects associated to numbering for over-the-top services, harmonisation of criteria for assignment of mobile network codes of Recommendation E.212 of the International Telecommunication Union Standardisation Sector (ITU-T) and application in practice of what is set in the ECC recommendation on extraterritorial use of E.164 numbers.
With respect to eCall, where there is a pressing need to assess the effective need for numbering, the framework and arrangements for the workshop to be held in Copenhagen on 31 January 2017 were determined.
The next meeting is scheduled for 1-2 February 2017 in Copenhagen.
