September

By decision of 21 September, ANACOM approved the requests made by television operators (RTP, SIC and TVI) seeking access to the supplements added to contracts governing the provision of codification, multiplexing, digital signal and digital broadcasting services and complementary coverage (DTT) concluded with MEO.

July

ANACOM approves final report on the proposal submission and analysis phase and approves award of the tender (limited by prior qualification) to carry out a study on the expansion of the offer of DTT programme services. The award is made to the company Leadership Business Consulting.

June

By decision of 22 June, ANACOM approves the amendment and reissue of the right of use of frequencies allocated to MEO for DTT services - Multiplexer A (MUX A).

May

Tender (limited by prior qualification) launched for the performance of a study on the expansion of the offer of DTT programme services, following ANACOM decision of 18 May.

Publication, on 25 May, of Decision (EU) 2017/899 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the use of the 470-790 MHz frequency band in the European Union, which establishes a coordinated approach to this band across the EU, ensuring the availability of mobile broadband services on this band by 2020, while avoiding interference between this use and DTT.

April

Publication, on 21 April, of Resolution of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira no. 11/2017/M, which establishes the integration of RTP-Madeira and RTP-Açores into the national DTT programming grids.

March

By decision of 17 March, ANACOM has launched a competition to conduct a study on expanding the offer of programme services on DTT.

January

Publication, on 16 January, of Law no. 2/2017, making the first amendment to Law no. 33/2016, clarifying provisions on the performance of financial, technical and legal studies on the future development of DTT.

ANACOM publishes 2016 annual report on the stability and availability of the DTT service, prepared based on information from the national network of probes. Guarda, Faro and Viana do Castelo were the districts with the highest levels of DTT availability during this period.
