By final decision of 16 June 2017, ANACOM has determined the opening of a new "257" code in the PNN - Plano Nacional de Numeração (National Numbering Plan) identifying the geographical area of Braga, for provision of the publicly available telephone service at a fixed location. The numbering resources of this code will be allocated in blocks of 10,000 numbers, whose corresponding rights of use must be allocated to providers of this service according to objective, transparent and non-discriminatory criteria, as soon as there are no further numbering blocks available with the "253" code. The conditions governing use of geographical numbers remain unchanged.
This decision seeks to anticipate the potential exhaustion of geographical numbers in the Braga area, considering that it is necessary and fitting for ANACOM to provide additional numbering capacity in the PNN for this geographical area, in order to guarantee the sustainable provision of the publicly available telephone service at a fixed location in the region and enable timely planning by providers in operational terms.
