According to INE2, in April 2017, telecommunications prices did not undergo any alteration compared to the previous month (-0.27% in April 2016)1.
Compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, and the average in the last 12 months, telecommunications prices1 increased by 2.61% and by 2.24%, respectively.

On a year-on-year basis, the increase in prices (2.61%) was the 10th highest among the sectors of the Portuguese economy. The difference between the CPI was 0.64 percentage points (p.p.).
On average annual terms, the increase in prices reported (2.24%) was the 9th highest among 43 products/services considered.
Since January 2014, telecommunications prices1 have been increasing at average annual rates above the rate of change reported in the CPI. In April 2017, the difference between the two rates was reported at 1.29 percentage points, the narrowest since May 2015.

2. Changes in telecommunication prices1 in the E.U.3 in April 2017
According to EUROSTAT4, in April 2017, the increase in prices in average annual terms reported in Portugal was 2.51 percentage points above the E.U. average3, with Portugal the E.U. country with the sixth highest increase in prices. The countries with larger increases than in Portugal were Belgium, Finland, Latvia, Slovenia and Spain.
On a year-on-year basis,, the variation in telecommunications prices1 in Portugal was the fourth highest among the E.U. countries.3,5
