Meeting between ANACOM and SK Telecom

A meeting between ANACOM and SK Telecom took place on 22 June 2018, at ANACOM's head office in Lisbon.

The South Korean operator is conducting a research visit in Europe to gauge dynamics in the use of new technologies related to electronic communications, and has expressed an interest in establishing contacts with ANACOM given this Authority's international reputation in asymmetric regulation in this area.

The exchange of experiences at the meeting was considered fruitful by both sides, in terms of future approaches to 5G and challenges related to shared governance of infrastructure.

SK Telecom is the largest mobile operator in the Republic of Korea, pioneering the launch of 2G, 3G and 4G and presenting a strategy of convergence for research and development, education and health. In 2017, SK Telecom launched a 4.5G service and presented the first international demonstration of 5G with Ericsson and Qualcomm.
