ANACOM meets with the Secretary General and elected Directors of the ITU

On the side-lines of the World Telecommunications Standardization Assembly (WTSA-20) of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), taking place in Geneva, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ANACOM, João Cadete de Matos, has met with Houloin Zhao, ITU Secretary-General.

The main strategic objective of the meeting was to strengthen Portugal's commitment to this United Nations Agency. Since the beginning of the pandemic, physical meeting have been severely restricted, so this opportunity was taken to take stock of the ITU's activity over this period and to discuss the challenges facing the organisation in the near future. Note was made of Portugal's solid and constructive participation in the ITU over the years, as well as the importance of such participation in building its future.

In addition to his meeting with the ITU Secretary General, João Cadete de Matos took the opportunity to meet with the directors of the ITU offices: Doreen Bogdan Martin, Director of the Development Office, Chaesub Lee, Director of the ITU Standardization Office, and Mario Maniewicz, Director of the Radiocommunications Office.

From a more sector-focused perspective, relevant aspects of the future performance of these ITU sectors and Portugal's involvement in this process were also addressed.
