The Ministerial meeting of the European Space Agency (ESA)https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=66798 will take place on 22 and 23 November 2022 in Paris, aiming to define the ESA strategy for the next three-year period as well as to approve programmes and their funding.
National representation at this meeting is led by the Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato, the Chairman of the Portuguese Space Agency (PT Space), Ricardo Conde, and the Chairman of ANACOM’s Board of Directors, João Cadete de Matos.
At this meeting, ESA Member States make a commitment to the European Space Agency, as regards financial amounts they will subscribe to the various Programmes in all ESA fields, such as scientific research, human exploration and robotics, space transportation, Kourou space infrastructure, telecommunications, satellite navigation, among others.
The telecommunications area is particularly relevant, both in terms of future technological challenges and the connection to the applications component in the development of the national space ecosystem.
