Meeting of group ECC TG4 - Helsinki

The 11th meeting of ECC TG4 was held last 9-11 December in Helsinki.

This meeting continued efforts to prepare the four reports this group is meant to produce per the second European Commission mandate on the Digital Dividend, and for the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) to clearly determine the powers of each of the groups that cover issues concerning this topic at CEPT level. The four reports are on the following subjects:

  • Report A - Guidelines for the border co-ordination of mobile services in one country and broadcasting service in the neighbouring country;

  • Report B - Recommendation the best way to ensure the maintenance of existing equipment for programme-making and special events (PMSE) operating in the 470-862 MHz band, including evaluation of the advantage of a strategy at European level;

  • Report C - Recommendation on a possible reworking of broadcasting service to free up the 790-862 MHz sub-band;

  • Report D - Measurement of protection relationships, to protect broadcasting service from mobile service so as to help the administrations determine compatibility situations.

Report A will be completed in March 2009 (22nd ECC meeting), while the other three will be completed in June 2009 (23rd ECC meeting).
