6th Meeting of PT 45 of the ECC Frequency Management working group - Copenhagen

Copenhagen hosted last 20-21 January the sixth meeting of project team (PT) 45 of the ECC Frequency Management working group (WG FM). Per this group's revised mandate, it is fundamentally charged with preparing three draft ECC reports or recommendations, besides tasks deriving from management of the CEPT Plans WI95revCO07 and MA02revCO07.

The first project covers future possibilities for digitalising band II for audio broadcasting, the current FM band (87.5-108.0 MHz). The DRM+ system (or DRM120, based on the DRM (Digital Radio Mondiale) system) stands out as the best-positioned candidate.

The second project concerns revision of the technical parameters and criteria for developing DRM in the LF and MF bands, as well as in the 26 MHz band of HF and in bands I and II of VHF for local ambit coverage. Operation in single frequency networks (SFNs) should also be considered.

The third project involves revision of the technical parameters and criteria for use of the L band (1452-1479.5 MHz) by terrestrial mobile multimedia systems (DVB-H and T-DMB, for example).
