Online safety for children - responses to European public consultation

The European Commission has recently published the contributions received in response to the recent public consultation on identifying the most effective ways of making the Internet and online services safer for child users.

The consultation document, entitled “Safer Internet and online Technologies for children”, is divided into three topics: fighting illegal content, fighting harmful content and user-generated content and online communication. Each of these areas corresponds to a questionnaire.

Over 80 individuals and organisations responded to the consultation, which ran from 12 April and closed on 7 June. The responses published individually online will form the basis of a document on the overall results of the consultation to be published in August 2007.
