Sector co-operation formalised with São Tomé and Príncipe

ANACOM has today signed a protocol of institutional and technical cooperation with its counterpart from São Tomé and Príncipe, Autoridade Geral de Regulação - AGER (General Authority of Regulation). São Tomé and Príncipe had been the only officially Portuguese speaking country not to have formalised a cooperation protocol with Portugal for the communications sector.

The protocol sets out the development of cooperation in communications regulation through frequent exchanges, within the framework of a common action plan which will include measures on the exchange of information and documents, technical missions, and training and other actions and strategies, as are in the interests of both parties.

The protocol enters into force today, the date of its signature, and is valid for one year. It is then automatically renewable for further successive periods of one year, unless one of the parties decides not to renew.

The protocol was signed by the Chairmen of AGER, Orlando Fernandes, and of ANACOM, José Amado da Silva.
