ANACOM signs cooperation deal with Moroccan Regulator

The IX Portuguese-Moroccan summit will be taking place in Rabat, Morocco, between 16 and 17 April. During this summit, ANACOM will sign a protocol of cooperation on telecommunications with its Moroccan counterpart, Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télécommunications – ANRT (National Agency for the Regulation of Telecommunications).

The protocol sets out the development of cooperation between the two authorities on communications regulation, to be achieved through frequent exchanges within a framework of a common action plan. It includes measures such as seminars and work sessions on sectoral issues, internships and the mutual exchange of experts and delegation visits. These will be implemented by a permanent working group also set up under the protocol.

The protocol, which is valid for a renewable period of three years following its signature, will be signed on ANACOM’s behalf by its Vice-Chairman, Alberto Souto de Miranda.

Portugal will be represented at the summit by the Prime Minister and the Ministers for Foreign Affairs, the Economy and Innovation, Transport and Communications, and for the Environment and Spatial Planning, as well as by the Assistant Secretaries of State for Justice, the Treasury, Finance and for Culture.

Morocco will also be represented by various ministers including the minister responsible for communications. It is also expected that the Moroccan Prime Minister and the King of Morocco will attend.
