The 8th meeting of project team (PT) 46 of the Frequency Management working group (WG FM) was held last 15-17 June in Copenhagen, chaired by Jaap Steenge of the Netherlands. PT46 mainly covers issues affecting the scope of maritime mobile services and maritime radio-navigation. The activity undertaken in this group is reported to WG FM.
Various issues were considered at this meeting, among them:
- Matters associated to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), specifically co-ordination of positions to defend CEPT’s position at the next IMO meeting;
- Continuation of work on the study of administrative procedures for personal locator beacons (PLBs), with the goal of proposing the possibility of harmonisation at the level of CEPT administrations;
- Issues in the scope of the WP 5B group of the International Telecommunication Union’s Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R), regarding the Union’s Publications Service, specifically the new list of coastal stations and special service stations (List IV);
- Updating the European Common Allocations (ECA) table and the EFIS Frequency Information System in the scope of the group’s activity;
- Issues concerning MOB-VPIRB (VHF position indicating radio beacon);
- Work on the revision of ECC/DEC.(99)01 on harmonisation of material for the General Operator’s Certificate (GOC) and Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC) exams.
