VoIP - Public consultation on the implementation of ERG Common Position

By determination of 30 July 2010, ANACOM approved the public consultation document on the implementation of the Common Position taken by the European Regulators Group (ERG), approved in December 2007, on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and on conditions for use of geographic, nomadic and mobile numbers.

In order to provide an European common regulatory framework on VoIP, ANACOM is interested in the market’s stance on several measures which are additional requirements to those currently in force, as well as in operators/providers’ position on the most appropriate means to put these measures into operation, identifying and characterizing any implementation difficulties there may be.

This is also deemed to be the appropriate moment to consult the market, users and all interested agents on several aspects associated to the conditions for use of geographic, nomadic and mobile numbers for the different environments established by the VoIP technology.

This document has been submitted to the general consultation procedure, provided for in the Electronic Communications Law, interested parties being entitled to assess the issue until 20 September 2010, sending their comments preferably by email to consulta.pc.erg.voip@anacom.ptmailto:consulta.pc.erg.voip@anacom.pt 1.

Upon the conclusion of the consultation procedure, the responses received will be published on this website. Respondents should therefore clearly mark any items which are considered confidential.
