.eu top level domain - consultation on alternative dispute settlement


The arbitration court of the Czech Republic launched a public consultation, open until 7 September next, on the alternative dispute settlement rules and procedures in the scope of the top level domain name .eu.

The Czech arbitration court is the body empowered by the European Registry of Internet Domain Names (EURid) - entity responsible for the management of .eu top level domain names - to act as the alternative dispute settlement body in  the scope of these domain names, expected to become effective in the last quarter of 2005.

When given its mandate, this body was requested to determine the alternative dispute settlement rules and procedures, to be made part of the registration rules now being prepared by the EURid.

With this consultation procedure, the Czech arbitration court intends to promote the openness and transparency of the .eu domain names alternative dispute settlement and to contribute to the quality of these procedures.

Two documents are submitted to consultation - the rules regarding the .eu domain name dispute settlement and the arbitration court’s supplemental rules.
