New code for utility services at an increased tariff rate

Yesterday a consultation was launched on an ANACOM draft decision regarding the implementation of the “71” code in the National Numbering Plan to accommodate the utility services at an increased tariff rate.

This consultation, which lasts until 19 October 2004, will follow the general consultation procedure foreseen in the Electronic Communications Law.  Any comment thereto will have to be submitted in writing and sent to ANACOM, preferably by e-mail to the address netsaude@anacom.pt.

Being a draft decision, this measure was also submitted to prior hearing of the interested parties, pursuant to articles 100 and 101 of the Rules of Administrative Procedure, a 20-day deadline being also given for them to submit their opinion. In view of the consequences that this measure may have in the interests of consumers, the Consumers’ Institute, DECO, FENACOOP and UGC were also heard.

This measure, approved by determination of 9 September 2004, aims at opening a new  specific numbering range to access the Netsaúde service, allowing, namely, that patients, who have subscribed this service and belong to the National Health System, will directly get in touch with their family doctors.
