www.anacom.pt - case study at Portugal Tecnológico 2010

As part of the third edition of Portugal Tecnológico ("Technological Portugal"), a series of conferences took place on 24 September with a reserved ICT panel. As part of the session, a presentation was made on ''Evaluation of accessibility on institutional websites: case study www.anacom.pt/https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=2958'', by Professors Luís Carriço and Marco de Sá, both of Universidade de Lisboa sciences faculty. The presentation looked at accessibility in the actual national context.

Among the key issues, the presentation looked at the extent of compliance with international accessibility standards and the application of good practices regarding the implementation of usable solutions on the web, as well as opportunities which the companies and bodies of the Public Administration have taken from the application of standards which guarantee the growing universality of access to information and to the knowledge of people with special needs.

In the second part of the session, a characterisation was made of the current situation in Portugal in this regard, along with the outlining and description of the methodologies applied in the processes used to assess the compliance of ANACOM's website with international standards.
