Rural NGN - use of infrastructure and availability of wholesale offers - public consultation

A public consultation has been launched on the use of infrastructure in the context of rural next generation networks (NGN) and the provision of wholesale offers by the entities to which the referred NGN were awarded. The consultation, which is being conducted by the Ministry for Public Works, Transport and Communications (MOPTC), through the office of the Assistant Secretary of State for Public Works and Communications (SEAOPC), will close on 25 November 2010. Responses (with confidential items duly indentified) should be sent to ANACOM - Av. José Malhoa, no. 12, 1099-017 Lisbon - which is managing the process and will send them to the Office concerned.

The Government aims to achieve two objectives with this consultation:

  • Enable the manifestation of provision of entities with available infrastructure, or infrastructure to be made available in the period between 2010-2012, which could provide support for the development of the networks covered by the tenders (North, Centre, Alentejo and Algarve, Azores and Madeira);

  • Compile intentions with regard to the use of the wholesale services to be made available by the entities who were awarded the tenders in question, by entities which plan to use them for the provision of final services to residential customers in these areas.
