EMERG plenary meeting - Rome

Rome hosted last 28 January the plenary session of the Mediterranean Regulators Group (EMERG). The gathering saw presentation of the annual report. It was stressed that the entire 2010 programme had been fulfilled and the 2010 benchmarking exercise was presented. Also debated was the 2011 working programme, which mainly focuses on sharing experience, including topics such as licensing, switchover and digital dividend, consumer defence, price regulation, infrastructure sharing (a seminar on this subject will be held in Lisbon) and next generation networks (NGN).

Elections were also held, with Egypt named to the positions of vice-chair in 2011 and the chair in 2012. The 2011 chair is held by Italy (elected last year). Lastly, EMERG's future was also discussed.
