In light of the protocol agreed on 24 January 2011 between ANACOM and FCCN - Fundação para a Computação Científica Nacional (Foundation for National Scientific Computing), the Director of the UIT-T TSB has been notified of ANACOM’s decision to designate FCCN as Tier 1 Registry of the 1.5.3.e164.arpa domain in relation to the U-ENUM ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain) for Portugal.
As such, one primary and two secondary servers have been configured with different localisation (national and international), with use made of the DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) secure communications protocol.
Four companies of the electronic communications sector (ZON TV Cabo, Claranet, Cabovisão and MobiZAPP) have formally subscribed to the protocol, with a number of other companies expressing an interest.
