ANACOM launches campaign on the transition to DTT

/ Updated on 12.12.2011

ANACOM has today, 28 November 2011, launched an information campaign in Portugal on the upcoming transition to Digital Terrestrial Television, with the aim of raising awareness and bringing information to the general public.

Through the campaign, which was designed by FUEL Publicidade, the Portuguese population will be given information on the things they need to do to make sure they are not left without free-to-air television once analogue television signals are switched off and replaced by digital television, taking into account the switch-off schedule:

  • 12 January 2012 – switch-off of all analogue transmitters and relays in coastal areas of mainland Portugal;

  • 22 March 2012 - switch-off of all analogue transmitters and relays in the Azores and Madeira;

  • 26 April 2012 - switch-off of all analogue transmitters and relays in the remaining areas of the national territory.

The campaign will be conducted using various media, including television, radio, outdoor advertising and electronic platforms, and will be especially intense in the period running up to the phases of the switch-off on mainland Portugal.

In the same context, ANACOM is holding a press conference today at 11.00 a.m. at Fundação Portuguesa das Comunicações (Portuguese Communications Foundation) in Lisbon to present its campaign to the media.
