7th ANACOM/ANATEL Co-ordination Committee meeting

The 7th meeting of the ANACOM-ANATEL Co-ordination Commission took place from the 30th of June to the 1st of July, in Lisbon, at the Portuguese Communications Foundation structures, promoting the Co-operation between the Potuguese and Brazilian telecommunications regulatory authorities.

This meeting was presided by Maria do Carmo Seabra, member of the ANACOM Board of Directors and António Carlos Valente da Silva, counsellor of the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) was the chief of the Brazilian delegation.

The agenda included several items of mutual interest such as: interconnection and access, digital television and 3rd mobile generation, quality certification, the new communitarian legal framework of the electronic communications, as well as the co-ordination in international matters, including in the scope of the Portuguese-Speaking Countries Community (Comunidade dos Países de Língua Portuguesa - CPLP).

The ANACOM-ANATEL Co-ordination Commission was created by the Complementary Adjustment, signed in April of 1999, of the Basic Agreement on Technical Co-operation between the Governments of Portugal and Brazil, of 1966, which defined the institutional co-operation patterns between the regulatory authorities of both countries, in the area of telecommunications.
