ANACOM is for the first time releasing statistical data on postal services operated in competition (1st quarter 2003), which cover mail whose price is more than five times the reference tariff (priority mail up to 20 grams), as long as it weighs more than 350 grams, as well as books, catalogues, newspapers and other periodical publications, postal orders and express mail services. Reserved services are thus excluded.
At the end of the first quarter of this year, besides the universal service provider (CTT - Correios de Portugal) there were 3 entities licensed to provide non-reserved postal services and 7 under an authorisation regime able to provide express mail services.
