Contact Network meeting - Montreux


The Contact Network met last 7-8 February in Montreux, Switzerland.

Noteworthy besides discussion of the opinion on the European Commission's proposed recommendation on non-discrimination and costing methods was the finalisation for plenary session approval of the response to the EC questionnaire with a view to revision of the recommendation on relevant markets, of the roaming guidelines revision, of a guidance paper on a harmonised approach in the scope of article 28/2 of the universal service directive and of the project requirements document for 2013 on machine-to-machine (M2M).

Other highlights included the preparation of a forum in 2013 gathering industry and other sector players and discussion about a possible memorandum of understanding involving BEREC and the US regulator (FCC - Federal Communications Commission).

As this was the year's first meeting, it also served to discuss and prepare the annual reports on sector developments and on processes involving Phase II of the 7/7-A articles from the framework directive dealt with by BEREC in 2012.

Also covered were various issues concerning the functioning of the Office, specifically regarding the 2013 budget and preparation of the one for 2014, as well as personnel matters.
