/ Updated on 13.08.2003

The Independent Regulators Group (IRG) approved two new Principles of Implementation and Best Practices (PIB), one of them concerning call barring and the other one for the suspension of telephone service.

A Common Position with respect to the concept of significant market power (SMP) in the framework of the competition rules within the scope of Revision 99, was also approved by IRG in its Plenary meeting held on 19 May in Athens.

IRG integrates 29 National Regulatory Authorities (NRA), in representation of the 15 European Union member-States, and also Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and the 10 new member-States of Center and East Europe preparing to join European Union. Despite its non-binding nature IRG decisions are considered relevant guiding documents concerning regulation of telecommunications matters.
