2nd meeting of CPG PTA - Copenhagen

The second meeting of project team A (PTA) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) was held last 25-28 March at the European Communications Office (ECO) in Copenhagen, chaired by Alexandre Kühn and attended by nearly 50 representatives from national regulatory authorities (NRAs), operators and organisations such as the European Space Agency (ESA), the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).

This group prepares European positions for the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15) and is responsible for various subjects: broadband systems for public protection and disaster relief (PPDR); additional spectrum requisites for satellite earth exploration service in the 7 GHz and 9 GHz bands, revision of leap second methodology in order to make universal coordinated time (UTC) continuous; and regulatory questions associated to procedures for inclusion by reference in the Radio Regulations (RR) of recommendations and resolutions from past world radiocommunication conferences and items on the question of addition, modification or withdrawal of footnotes from countries, with a view to simplifying the RR.

This meeting saw approval of the briefs, documents used as technical support for drawing up and justifying European common proposals (ECPs) for all items under PTA's responsibility.

This group’s next meeting is scheduled for this coming 5-8 September and is expected to begin drawing up the first draft ECPs.
