2nd CPG PTB meeting - Copenhagen

Project team B (PTB) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) held its second meeting last 19-21 March at the European Communications Office (ECO) in Copenhagen, chaired jointly by Alexandre Vallet and Victor Glushko, responsible for items from CPM report chapters 4 and 5 respectively. The gathering was attended by about 50 representatives from national regulatory authorities (NRAs), operators and regional organisations.

This group is in charge of topics associated to the evaluation of spectrum requirements and consequent regulatory revisions needed to allocate frequency bands for satellite radiocommunication service, such as:

  • fixed satellite service in the 5 GHz and 7 GHz band;
  • mobile maritime satellite service in the 8 GHz band;
  • mobile satellite service between 22 GHz and 26 GHz - possibility of additional spectrum;
  • earth stations on vessels (ESV) - revision of technical and regulatory limits;
  • geostationary orbit (GSO) satellites - regulatory provisions concerning coordination.

This meeting saw approval of the briefs, documents used as technical support for drawing up and justifying European common proposals (ECPs) for all items under PTB’s responsibility.

This group's next meeting is scheduled for this coming 21-23 August and is expected to begin drawing up the first draft ECPs.
