Brussels hosted last 18-19 April the first 2013 meeting of the BEREC expert working group on Next Generation Networks (EWG NGN) and a workshop on "Emerging Challenges in NGNs: effective regulation in a next generation access (NGA) networks environment". The meeting/workshop served to present and debate various issues associated to the development of next generation access networks, such as the introduction of vectoring technology, validity of the 'investment ladder' principle and, more specifically, impact of the recent European Commission (EC) proposal for a regulation that sets out rules to cut the cost of installing high speed networks.
