Meeting of ECC working group WG NaN - Budapest


The sixth meeting of the ECC working group on Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) was held last 17-18 April in Budapest. WG NaN debates issues of common interest to regulators regarding numbering and the impact of technological developments on regulation.

Highlights of the meeting included:

1. Approval of the following reports:

  • Report 194 - Extra-Territorial Use of E.164 Numbers of the ECC, which analyses the question of allocating and using (except in roaming) national numbering plan numbers outside the national territory of a country;
     
  • Report 195 - Minimum Set of Quality of Service Parameters and Measurement - Methods for Retail Internet Access Services, which analyses and determines a minimum set of parameters to use when measuring the quality of internet access service;
     
  • Report 196 - Abuse, Delay and Compensation Mechanisms in Number Portability, where the establishment of compensation mechanisms for subscribers in case of number portability delay or abuse was analysed.

2. The creation of a new project team on Emergency Services (PT ES), transferring the technical work carried out on that subject in Europe from the Technical Regulatory Issues project team (PT TRIS), particularly production of the report on location-finding information in emergency calls. The first meeting of PT ES technical experts is scheduled for 23 May in Brussels.
