WG NaN PT FNI meeting - Copenhagen

Copenhagen hosted last 25-26 June a meeting of the project team on Future Numbering Issues (PT FNI) of the ECC working group on Numbering and Networks (WG NaN). The participants discussed and shared experience, including the latest information on issues associated to the use of mobile network codes (MNC) and machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, a matter which will be included in the report under development. Also being prepared is a contribution to forward to the International Telecommunication Union standardisation sector (ITU-T) study group (SG2), meant to highlight the need to re-examine criteria set down in the current recommendation E.212, so it can be adjusted in line with market performance and needs.

The options to consider in the decision meant to transpose the conclusions from Report 194 on the extra-territorial use of E.164 numbers were also analysed. The report looks at the issue of permanent use and allocation (except in roaming as currently practised) of E.164 numbers pertaining to the national numbering plan of a country outside its territory.
