ANACOM has released the statistical report on postal services in Portugal for 2nd Quarter 2013 (2Q13). Express mail traffic reported a notable increase, with 10.3 million items distributed, reflecting an increase of 8 percent in the quarter and 9.9 percent compared to the same quarter of 2012 (2Q12).
Meanwhile, total postal services traffic decreased 12.6 percent, with around 223.2 million items distributed. Non-express mail traffic, which makes up the majority of traffic (95.4 percent) declined by 13.4 percent compared to 1Q13 and by 9.7 percent compared to 2Q12. Approximately 92.4 percent of this traffic is encompassed within the universal service and about 54.5 percent is bulk mail.
