Meeting of BEREC EWG on International Roaming - Brussels

The BEREC expert working group (EWG) on International Roaming met last 29 October in Brussels, chaired by Spain's national regulatory authority, the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Comptetencia (CNMC).

The gathering's main agenda points were discussion of the document being drawn up regarding the report on transparency and comparability of international roaming rates, as well as the current status of activities associated to production of the 12th Benchmark Report.

Also discussed was the proposed regulation of the European Parliament (EP) and of the Council concerning measures associated to the single market for electronic communications, based on BEREC’s position and the contributions from various national regulatory authorities (NRAs).

The participants also considered possible cooperation with other EWGs regarding international roaming (specifically the Latin American Forum of Telecommunication Regulatory Authorities (Regulatel) and the Persian Gulf countries), with a view to sharing experiences and deepening knowledge in this area.
