Portugal elected to the Vice-Presidency of ECO

Portugal (through ANACOM's Marta Leandro) has been nominated to the Vice-Presidency of the Council of the European Communications Office (ECO) for a term of three years. The appointment was made at the Council's last meeting, held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 20 and 21 November 2013.

The ECO Council is currently chaired by Norway (Geir Sundal).

The ECO is a permanent office of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT), and also gives administrative and technical support to its Presidency and to the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC), the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP) and the International Telecommunication Union Policy Committee (Com-ITU). ECO's current staff is made up of 12 people, including the director, experts and administrative staff.

The ECO Council - which includes representatives of the 33 signatories to the ECO Convention, i.e. CEPT countries which finance the office - monitors the office's management and advises the director on administrative and financial matters and on human resource management.
