5th meeting of CPG PT-A - Noordwijk

The fifth meeting of project team A (PT-A) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) was held last 7-10 April in the Dutch city of Noordwijk, chaired by T. Azzarelli and attended by 60 participants representing national regulatory authorities and industry.

PT-A is in charge of debating and proposing to the CPG positions to defend at the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC 15) of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) with respect to items under its responsibility in the CEPT/CPG context, specifically eventual spectrum identification for public protection and disaster relief (PPDR) systems, space science services (Earth exploration by satellite service - EESS) and revision of the coordinated universal time (UTC) methodology, and regarding Resolution 26 (simplification of the Radio Regulations by eliminating national/regional footnotes), the regulatory framework for nano-systems and pico-satellites, and the preparation of agendas for future conferences.

The proposals to modify the briefs for each item debated in PT-A were presented and analysed. This was followed by revision and approval of changes to the briefs, which also include the most recent results from the ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) study groups and preliminary positions from other regional and international organisations.

Several European common proposals (ECPs) referring to items 1.11, 1.13, 4 and 9.1.6 were likewise prepared and approved.

The next CPG meeting will be held on 13-16 January 2015.
