Observatory of the Information Society

In an initiative from UNESCO, involving Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Angola and East Timor, the Observatory of the Information Society has been created on the past 4th September 2003.  This Observatory, with head-offices in the Brazilian capital city, Brasilia, intends to offer trough the Internet, information data, works, articles and documents about information technology in the Portuguese speaking countries, contributing as well for the generalization of the discussion on the universal access to new technologies.

The Observatory intends also to become a transmission and articulation platform for the Portuguese speaking countries positions to be presented at the World Summit on the Information Society, due to take place in Geneva (Switzerland), from the 10th to the 12th December 2003.
